The Logical Aus Christmas Party – Bintang’s, Bikinis & Passionfruit Martini’s

Its an annual celebration that the Logical team work hard to achieve, our infamous Christmas party or should I say, Christmas Vacation, is the highlight of the team’s year. So when the announcement was made that team AUS were headed to Bali for a week, excitement would be an understatement!!

After recent growth in the company this trip was the perfect way for the team to relax after a hard year and really bond. Ever wondered the best way to get to know a new team member? Sit next to them on a 5hr flight to Indonesia, you will soon know their life story!

We were fortunate to stay at the beautiful Kashantee Village, this resort of villas was only a stone throw away from Seminyak’s Pantai Batu Belig beach, all major beach clubs and local shopping. Nestled In the palm trees Kashantee Village provided a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s traffic logged streets.

At the heart of the village was a large emerald pool and restaurant where you could find us for hours at a time. We would sunbathe with Bintang’s in hand, swim in the rain and eat some of the best corn fritters your will ever try! not to mention the daily visits to the spa next door for $18 full body massages…

One of our big highlights from the trip would have to be the team night out in Kuta, hopping from one cheesy bar to another, and witnessing Jase the #GigCrasher in the flesh!

For those of you who don’t know, our Director Jason Demillo is Logical by day and Lead singer of Pow! by night. Crashing gigs all over Kuta, Jase wowed the locals with covers by the likes of the Killers & the Beatles.. making for an entertaining evening for the team who got to bust a move and turn into unofficial hype men for the night!

To end a relaxing week we took to the water slides at Waterbom Bali, burning off the Bintang’s by climbing to extreme heights to tackle fears of big drops and compete to be the fastest to the bottom.

Although some of us struggled with the 100% humidity, the friendly locals, cheap massages, great team and passionfruit martinis definitely made the for a memorable week away. A huge thank you to our awesome senior leadership team who recognised our hard work and truly believe A Happy Team = A Productive Team!

If you ever find yourself in the area here is our top 5 spots to visit:

Kashantee Village – Retreat in the heart of Seminyak
Pantai Batu Belig – Picturesque beach for sunbaking during the day, lined with local bars for cheap evening drinks.
Finns Beach Club – Great views, great music and not too posey.
Motel Mexicola – Awesome Mexican bar with delicious guac, where diners are encouraged to stop mid-meal to dance on tables to classic beats.
Waterbom Bali – Located in Kuta, Waterbom is one of Asia’s top water parks featuring over 15 rides/attractions to suit the whole family. You could easily spend a day riding the hydro slides, getting massages or chilling at the pool bar!

New Years Resignations?

It’s that time of the year again when we all get somewhat of an opportunity to take a little bit of a timeout and relax, reflect and plan. Well I’ll take 2 out of the 3, Christmas with my family is anything other than relaxing, but I digress.

As leaders, it’s a time to take stock and look towards the future while taking learnings from the year just gone. But don’t forget, our people are doing the same thing and some of them are using this time to decide on whether your organisation is the right place for them to be in 2020 and beyond. Some of them have already made the decision to split!

Have you seen any of these signs from your people this year?

  • They’re just not at work: A sure fire sign of disengagement is frequent absences. Don’t get me wrong here, people need holidays and time to recover when they’re sick, but an increase in last minute unplanned absences could mean that you’re about to lose one of your people.
  • Signs of dissatisfaction: A sudden attitude shift and/or a rise in complaints that relate to work could indicate that someone isn’t happy doing what they’re doing. In cases like this, the horse may have already bolted, but like all situations, catching a shift in attitude early could be the difference between a new year’s resignation and a productive and performing team member.
  • Gaslighting: It’s an unfortunate but all too common thing to burn bridges on the way out. Employees who are causing friction within your team may be preparing to light a match. Beware of the gas lighters!
  • Punctuality: Everyone is late from time to time, but when late becomes a habit and there is no fear of consequence, you’ve likely got a case of someone who’s checked out and really doesn’t care.

Anything there raising red flags for you? There are loads more signs and I’d be keen to hear from you on what you’ve seen in the past, but just know that while we plan to move our organisations forward, not everyone is on the bus. Keep a look out for disengagement, save yourself a headache and tackle it early.

Happy Holidays – JD

We’ll be travelling to our Christmas Party by….Plane

Christmas party season is upon us, and here at Logical we’ll be swapping the Bow ties and sequin show-stoppers for sun glasses and flip flops! The infamous Logical Christmas ‘do’ is creeping up on us, and we couldn’t feel more blessed and excited to jet off once again, this Friday. A study found that one in three of us regret something from the Christmas party, well why not do think logically and embarrass yourself abroad!

Logical in the tabloids
It’s not often you hear of an all-expenses paid for, overseas Christmas party, it’s that unheard of that the Metro wrote an article last year and described it as ‘The world’s best Christmas Party’ and indeed it was! The financial times have also recently been in contact to publish a further article about our 2019 Christmas get away.

The Trips that have gone down in History
For complete boasting purposes and because being rewarded helps make a job rewarding, lets list some of the places we’ve had the pleasure of going to on our incentive trips. Last Christmas we met up halfway with the Australian team in the home of Pad Thai that is Thailand! – by the looks of our trusty Directors face (above, right) there was a factor 50 draught and the buckets on Bangla Road were really taking their toll! To name a few hot spot destinations, we’ve also been to Ibiza (above left), Barcelona and Tomorrowland Festival.

Founder Rob Carlton believes one of the best ways to motivate and inspire people to be the best, is to have something to work towards, he loves to reward us for our hard work over the course of the year. Aka work hard, and you can party even harder! Some organisations will only take the individuals that met their personal targets, which is a very exclusive approach. At Logical we use a family orientated approach as everyone in the company is included in the trip. That’s thinking Logically!

This year’s Agenda
This year, it’s a double whammy, as our UK team are jetting off to the largest city in the Costa Del Sol- Malaga! Director of the Australian team, Gill Dumigan, is flying the Aus team out to their equivalent of Spain (swap the paella for nasi goreng)- Bali! If you want some winter sun envy, keep your eyes peeled as both teams are all boarding this Friday! Have you really been on holiday if you haven’t posted it on all forms of social media? Holiday content pending….
