WOW! 2019 was a mammoth year. Firstly, we’d like to highlight how lucky we are to work with some of the best professionals globally, your relationships, loyalty, friendship and partnership has made us who we are today.

Last year we were fortunate enough to see increases of 177% revenue, a whopping 322% of profit in and introduced six new all-star team members across our Australian and UK offices. Our goal for 2019 was to add new technology for better enablement across our teams, efficiencies globally for the business and uplifting our customer experience through real time reporting, complete transparency and a step in the right direction for true partnership.

Gill Dumigan explains, “When we opened our doors in Melbourne, we had no idea how warmly our approach would be received.  Yes, there was a need to offer technical recruitment to our customers, however locally, we had no idea we could infiltrate the Australian market as well as we did.  Luckily, with my great team and their genuine approach our Australian friends enjoy the value we bring. We’ve performed well this year, allowing us to invest in key people, technology and marketing to cement our business in the APAC region. With future trend indicating increased demand in Logical’s sweet spot, we hope to continue this success throughout 2020.”

Over the last year we have invested considerably in our baby, welcoming new faces, including, HR & Talent guru Venus Vom, Strategic Operations Director, “It felt like the right time to join a business like Logical, I’ve worked in both environments as a Talent and HR professional for most of my life however not had an opportunity to work with a business that is so customer centric, focused on the experience and offering such creative solutions”.  Logical has added efficiencies through technology and automation to mature the business, such as, a new client portal that will give full visibility over the hiring process, talent pools shortlisted and real time reporting, demonstrating ROI at the touch of a button. Workflow automation is saving customer spend, our clients will now be able to request an interview with a candidate at the touch of a button and leave feedback in one central location whilst watching their ‘talent pool’ of shortlisted professionals grow for when they need them the most.

For those who work with us, you will know ‘People’ is our game, professional recruitment has always been our nature.  We added to this in 2018 by offering a new service of end to end Talent Management, charged as a daily rate and offering our customers savings up to 60% versus traditional recruitment models. In 2019, we brought another offering to the market, for businesses seeking more value that ‘just a CV’ but not large enough to warrant a full talent service.  We call this Logical People Projects – project based assigned where we work in true partnership, delivering not only the talent you need for that project however also building out a talent pool, future proofing your business for more growth further down the line – at NO extra cost!  Some of our clients have needs to scale up fast within set budgets making standard recruitment not feasible BUT we are now able to work with our clients creating bespoke recruitment packages to suit their needs and with added benefits! A custom-built talent pool of candidates to use in the future, could it get any better??

Well, we must be doing something right, with 57% of our revenue through repeat business and over 90% of our new customers introduced through referrals, we like to think Logical has made in mark in the Australian community quickly and can be trusted advisers to our network.

“Working with Logical has made hiring simple. Where I used to sift through 30+ resumes and take months to find the right candidate, Logical were able to find us the right person within a fortnight; not only matching the capability we needed for the business but finding a great team fit as well. I have a great relationship with the Logical team and am happy to continue using their services for current and future hires”– Lauren Ginter, Secureworks

Let’s be honest, all the above would not be possible without our clients and we owe a huge thanks to every one of them that thinks of us. Our moto is to be as easy as possible to do business with, treating our clients like extended arms of our business and building long lasting relationships through the highest levels of service and delivery.  We pride ourselves on the fact that we can say we are ‘Preferred Suppliers’ to a number of big hitters in the Tech industry and having a proven name that clients are happy to recommend.

And we love to recommend our clients too!

In December we hosted our annual Logical Christmas party at The Imperial Roof Top Melbourne, the city views paired with delicious canapes, great weather and a buzzy Christmas vibe, created the perfect opportunity for our clients and friends to get to know each other and form some exciting business relationships.

‘Always enjoy catching up with the logical team at their events, they are always a relaxed affair where we have been able to make some great connections” – Marc Pilli. Zetaris

Having made a potential consulting opportunity Marie Bigaignon from Soleil Solutions said the evening was a

‘Wonderful opportunity to socialise and network with diverse group of professionals from a cross section of technology and industry leaders. Great night with an interesting and fun group of people’

We’d like to thank everyone who attended and enjoyed the night with us, as well as those who couldn’t make it but were there in spirit! It was a great event, having the chance to mix and mingle, put faces to names and reflect on the year that was.

The new year brings new goals and exciting changes, one important one for us is quarterly Logical Community Events. Offering more opportunities to build out your network, share experiences and have a beer with the Logical team.

We believe in giving back to our partners and love to offer fun events to help you be more successful and/or develop your career in any direction you want through meeting great people.  Our next event will be March 2020!  Watch this space for your invite!

A significant and inspiring change for Logical in 2020 will be the launch of our new branding! It has taken months of discussion around who we are as a team, how our clients see us and what we want to stand for as a business.  With awesome feedback describing us as ‘Authentic, Personable and Professional’ we wanted to reflect this in our image, with a vibrant new look. So, watch this space for the new and improved Logical…!

Once again, we’d like to shout out a HUGE thank you to our network, customers and professional friends. It’s been a full on, challenging and successful year but we could never do it without you and your support.  Let’s carry on the mutual success in 2020.

Opportunity Knocks

We’ve all been approached before to leave our jobs and jump the fence for greener pastures. Now I could write a blog about how the grass isn’t always greener blah blah blah, but this piece is about being respectful when being approached to move and banking those relationships for a rainy day.

Here at Logical we are very active at the moment, busily searching for great people to join our team. During my search I’ve made some great contacts and met some high-quality candidates, but this particular induvial stood out for their response to my approach. I’ll paraphrase:

Thanks for reaching out, I am happy, but I’ll take a date at *insert expensive restaurant name* 😉.

Now as flattering as the response was, it didn’t do any favours for said approached consultant and put the #metoo movement back about 20 years. Imagine if, as a male, I responded to someone in that fashion. It’s a cliché but this is a very small world and you never quite know who you’re responding too and where that response will end up! It may end up the subject of a blog that goes viral (if 5 readers constitute going viral)! And as much as the response was light-hearted, I’d now be unlikely to re-engage this person should their circumstances change.

Here are my tips for respectfully responding to head-hunters:

  1. Be professional! Yes, it might not be the right time now, but the way you respond to these messages could be the difference between door open and door closed in the future both with that organisation as well as with that individual.
  2. Thank them for reaching out. It’s a huge compliment to be asked if you’d like to join someone’s business. Take it as such.
  3. Help if you can. You might not be the right person for them, but you may know someone who is. Adding value will help you create a lasting network contact.
  4. Ask if you can stay in touch. Keep doors open! You just never know what you might encounter down the road.

Even if you’re not on the market, being approached can create more than just job offers. It’s an opportunity to build your brand even if you end up staying put.

I’m always keen to hear your feedback and experiences, and we’re obviously looking for good people if you’re after a job and not a dinner.

The Logical Aus Christmas Party – Bintang’s, Bikinis & Passionfruit Martini’s

Its an annual celebration that the Logical team work hard to achieve, our infamous Christmas party or should I say, Christmas Vacation, is the highlight of the team’s year. So when the announcement was made that team AUS were headed to Bali for a week, excitement would be an understatement!!

After recent growth in the company this trip was the perfect way for the team to relax after a hard year and really bond. Ever wondered the best way to get to know a new team member? Sit next to them on a 5hr flight to Indonesia, you will soon know their life story!

We were fortunate to stay at the beautiful Kashantee Village, this resort of villas was only a stone throw away from Seminyak’s Pantai Batu Belig beach, all major beach clubs and local shopping. Nestled In the palm trees Kashantee Village provided a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s traffic logged streets.

At the heart of the village was a large emerald pool and restaurant where you could find us for hours at a time. We would sunbathe with Bintang’s in hand, swim in the rain and eat some of the best corn fritters your will ever try! not to mention the daily visits to the spa next door for $18 full body massages…

One of our big highlights from the trip would have to be the team night out in Kuta, hopping from one cheesy bar to another, and witnessing Jase the #GigCrasher in the flesh!

For those of you who don’t know, our Director Jason Demillo is Logical by day and Lead singer of Pow! by night. Crashing gigs all over Kuta, Jase wowed the locals with covers by the likes of the Killers & the Beatles.. making for an entertaining evening for the team who got to bust a move and turn into unofficial hype men for the night!

To end a relaxing week we took to the water slides at Waterbom Bali, burning off the Bintang’s by climbing to extreme heights to tackle fears of big drops and compete to be the fastest to the bottom.

Although some of us struggled with the 100% humidity, the friendly locals, cheap massages, great team and passionfruit martinis definitely made the for a memorable week away. A huge thank you to our awesome senior leadership team who recognised our hard work and truly believe A Happy Team = A Productive Team!

If you ever find yourself in the area here is our top 5 spots to visit:

Kashantee Village – Retreat in the heart of Seminyak
Pantai Batu Belig – Picturesque beach for sunbaking during the day, lined with local bars for cheap evening drinks.
Finns Beach Club – Great views, great music and not too posey.
Motel Mexicola – Awesome Mexican bar with delicious guac, where diners are encouraged to stop mid-meal to dance on tables to classic beats.
