SQL Database Architect – Azure
NV1 / NV2 Cleared | Remote Aus-Wide

We’re partnering with a global technology consultancy that supports some of the largest Azure cloud migration and modernisation programs across Government and enterprise. They’re now looking for an experienced SQL Database Architect (Azure) to take the lead on complex SQL Server–to?Azure migrations within a well?established cloud migration factory.

This role would suit a senior database professional who enjoys owning work end?to?end—from shaping migration strategy through to delivering secure, highly available database platforms at scale—while working closely with delivery teams and stakeholders.

Key focus areas include:

• Assessing SQL Server environments and defining Azure migration strategies
• Leading on-prem SQL Server migrations to Azure using Azure Migrate, DMA, DMS, backup/restore, log shipping, and Azure Data Studio
• Designing HA/DR architectures in Azure (FCI, Always On Availability Groups, multi-subnet and multi-region)
• Shaping Azure database solutions for large, complex migration programs
• Planning storage, capacity, performance, and data models
• Providing hands-on troubleshooting across Windows and SQL Server environments
• Ensuring security, governance, and compliance using Azure native services (Key Vault, policies)

About you:

• Active NV1 or NV2 security clearance (mandatory)
• 10+ years’ experience in database architecture or engineering
• 5+ years’ hands-on experience delivering Azure SQL migration programs
• Strong experience with Azure SQL migration tooling and factory delivery models
• Deep knowledge of Azure infrastructure, networking, storage, and security
• Confident translating technical solutions into business outcomes

Nice to have:

• SQL Server upgrades from legacy versions to SQL Server 2022 in Azure
• T?SQL and PowerShell scripting
• Database performance tuning and optimisation
• Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments
• Azure and SQL certifications (DP?300, AZ?305, Solutions Architect)
