Join an established Managed Service Provider in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and take on a hybrid technical role that blends traditional systems administration with VMware virtualization and datacenter engineering.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work across enterprise-grade environments, managing both physical and virtual infrastructure while contributing to automation and optimization initiatives. You’ll also have the chance to assist with broader IT projects, from laptop fleet deployments to configuring Wi-Fi devices.

What You’ll Be Doing
Systems Administration

• Maintain and administer Linux and Windows servers across production and test environments.
• Manage patching, updates, performance tuning, and security hardening.
• Automate operational tasks using PowerShell.
• Implement and monitor backups, DR, and system health using VMware tools and third-party platforms.
• Manage identity and access (Active Directory / LDAP).

Datacenter Operations

• Deploy, configure, and maintain physical servers, storage arrays, and network equipment.
• Handle rack/stack, cabling, power distribution, and hardware lifecycle management.
• Monitor environmental systems (power, cooling, space) and coordinate maintenance windows.
• Maintain accurate asset tracking and documentation.

Virtualization & Infrastructure

• Build, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi environments.
• Manage VM provisioning, resource pools, templates, snapshots, and migrations (vMotion).
• Integrate virtual networking (vSwitches, VLANs) and storage (vSAN, iSCSI, NFS).
• Support and optimize DR and HA configurations.
• Collaborate with network, security, and DevOps teams for seamless integration.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi.
• Solid background in Windows/Linux systems administration.
• Hands-on experience with datacenter hardware (servers, storage, networking).
• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Knowledge of Active Directory / LDAP.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work on-site.
