A growing public practice located in Melbourne’s western suburbs is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its team. The firm services a blend of Australian SMEs (typically $1–$5 million turnover) and international clients, including businesses associated with major overseas stock exchange listings.

The Opportunity
This is a senior position designed for someone ready to step into a 2IC role with long term potential for equity and partnership.
The successful candidate will gradually take over review responsibilities and operational oversight, allowing the principal to focus on expanding the business. You’ll play a key part in mentoring junior staff, maintaining high technical standards, and helping shape the next phase of the firm’s growth.

Key Responsibilities
•    Act as second in command, overseeing workflow and final review of accounting and tax work
•    Prepare and review financial statements, BAS, tax returns, and compliance documentation
•    Mentor and develop junior team members
•    Manage client relationships and ensure retention of existing clients
•    Support operational improvement and business growth initiatives

What We’re Looking For
•    5+ years in public practice
•    Strong working knowledge of Australian compliance and tax legislation
•    Experience reviewing work and guiding junior staff
•    Excellent communication and client management skills
•    Ability to work autonomously and lead others
•    Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship 
•    Commercial mindset with a genuine interest in future partnership opportunities
Highly Regarded:
•    Ability to bring a client book
•    Experience coordinating with external or offshore resources
