Our client moves essential goods across this country. We’ll leave it at that, but when we say essential, we mean it. Think critical infrastructure, serious regulatory obligations, and an environment where nobody’s sitting around waiting to be told what to do. You’ll get exposure working in a maritime environment which will be a welcomed change of scenery from the office for some.
The stack is modern, well-funded, and genuinely interesting to work in. There are three people in the IT team. You’d be one of them.
The Role
Broad, varied, and yours to own. This is a hands-on L3 generalist position – infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity and everything else that comes with it.
Most days are steady, but it’s your responsibility to ensure operations don’t miss a beat. That’s the nature of the environment, and the right person for this role won’t be put off by it.
Around 400 staff across multiple sites rely on this team. Customer service matters as much as technical ability – probably more than most IT roles you’ve seen.
The Tech
The tech stack is varied, but includes VMware and HP virtualisation, Fortinet firewalls, CrowdStrike, Darktrace, Zerto for disaster recovery, all collocated in a tier-one data centre. Office 365, Azure, managed SD-WAN, and a few specialist operational platforms specific to the industry.
Cybersecurity carries real weight here. The organisation is classified as critical infrastructure and operates under strict legislative requirements.
What They Need
A solid L3 generalist. Not someone who needs a narrow lane to operate in – someone who’s comfortable across a wide remit and gets on with it. Strong foundations in networking, virtualisation, and competence working across Microsoft tech stack are the core requirement.
PowerShell and SQL skills are a bonus and will be put to good use if you have them.
The team is small, easy-going, and collaborative. Nobody’s precious about titles. But this is a high-accountability environment, and they need someone who understands that without it needing to be said.
Please note: This role is only open to Australian Citizens, as baseline clearance is required. The client will support the candidate to obtain an NV1 Clearance once onboarded.
This is a 12 month contract, with an opportunity to convert to permanent.
