Project Managers – Data Centres

Melbourne’s data centre pipeline is one of the strongest in the region, and the businesses delivering it need experienced Project Managers to keep these complex builds on time, on budget and on spec. I’m working with a range of tier-one builders, specialist MEP contractors, consultancies and data centre owners/operators, all looking to add delivery talent to their teams.

The opportunities

Roles range from Project Manager to Senior and Project Director level, and include:

• Builder-side Project Managers delivering greenfield hyperscale and colocation facilities from early works through to practical completion
• MEP / Services Project Managers running mechanical and electrical packages, where most of a data centre’s value and risk sits
• Client-side Project Managers representing owners and operators, managing contractors, consultants and stakeholders across the full development lifecycle
• Fit-out and Expansion Project Managers delivering new data halls, power upgrades and capacity expansions on live, operational sites

What you’ll be doing

• Leading projects end to end, from design and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover
• Managing budgets, programmes, risk and contract administration
• Overseeing procurement of long-lead equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear and chillers
• Coordinating design teams, subcontractors, vendors and commissioning agents
• Keeping safety and quality at the centre of delivery, particularly around HV works and live environments
• Building strong relationships with clients and reporting progress to senior stakeholders

What my clients are looking for

• A degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
• Proven project management experience on data centres or other mission-critical or complex builds such as hospitals, labs, pharma or large-scale commercial projects
• A strong understanding of MEP services, ideally with exposure to commissioning and integrated systems testing
• Solid commercial acumen, including cost control, variations and contract management (AS 4000 or similar)
• The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage demanding stakeholders
• Experience with programming tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project is a plus
